About Our Sprout Safety Procedures:

Marjon® takes food safety very seriously. We want you to be aware of the safety precautions and procedures that are in place at Marjon®. We have a “Hold and Release” program used for all sprout production in the marketplace.
Marjon Sprout Safety Procedures

  • We require that the seed company furnish test results on each lot of seed prior to shipping that seed into our facility.
  • When we receive the tested seed lot we have that same lot re-tested by our outside testing laboratory
  • After we get verification that those seeds have tested negative, we then sanitize the seed with sodium-hypochlorite at 20,000 ppm per FDA guidelines, prior to planting.
  • Prior to harvesting the sprouts we collect spent-water irrigation samples from the growing sprouts and it is then tested for both Salmonella and Ecoli-0157:H7
  • The sprouts are not released for sale until the test results are confirmed negative.
